A jungle monk living in the Thai countryside accepts alms from a lay Buddhist near Saraburi, Thailand. "Jungle" or "forest" monks focus on the study of meditation and devote themselves to more traditional ascetic practices away from urban areas. They are sometimes considered more pure in their discipline and devotion to Theravada Buddhism than city monks, who are primarily scholars and civic figures.
